Sign Permit Application

The County of Peterborough Council enacted the new Sign By-law 2021-35 which sets out regulations for signs installed within County road allowances.

The Sign By-law was developed in 2019/2020 in consultation with the Sign By-law Working Committee comprised of citizen and business representatives to provide strategic advice to County Council on aspects of the Sign By-law.

In enacting the Sign By-law, County Council recognized the opportunity to support local businesses in this region by continuing the Bush County Sign program as a component of the Sign By-law.

The Sign By-law provides information and specifications on the types of signs that are permitted , the types of signs that are exempted from permits and the types of signs that are prohibited  from being installed within a County road allowance.

Businesses may contact the Public Works (PW) department to discuss options and eligibility for signage for business identification or advertising purposes. Interested parties are encouraged to review the Sign By-law and the associated specifications.

The Sign By-law is administered and enforced by PW who will receive applications for permission to install a sign(s) within a County road allowance.
